At approximately 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, a fire was reported by the homeowner in the 2500 block of Tovar Ln. The occupants discovered smoke in a motorhome located in the garage and evacuated the residence. The first arriving fire company reported heavy smoke and fire coming from the garage. Five Engine Companies, one Truck Company, and a Battalion Chief responded to the fire and gained control of the fire in an hour. The occupants evacuated the house safely. There were no reported injuries to the firefighters.

On March 27, 2024, at approximately 7:39 a.m. the Lake Havasu City Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit with the assistance of the Street Crimes Unit and Criminal Investigations Unit served a search warrant on a residence in the 2200 Blk of Interlake Dr. During the search warrant approximately a half pound of Methamphetamine was recovered. It was also learned that illegal drugs and paraphernalia were within reach of a young child residing in the home.

Lake Havasu City is deeply saddened by the passing of former Council Member Dean Barlow, a beacon of dedication, fiscal prudence, and unwavering commitment to our community. Dean departed from us on Friday, March 29, leaving behind a legacy of service and compassion.

At approximately 12:01 pm on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, the Lake Havasu City Fire Department was dispatched to a desert rescue at Sara Park. A male hiker was reported to be experiencing a heat-related injury and in need of assistance. Two Engine Companies, Two Rescue side-by-sides, an ambulance, and a Battalion Chief responded to Sara Park and were able to locate the injured person within 36 minutes.

On March 17, 2024, at approximately 9:00 a.m., Lake Havasu City Police Officers were conducting a traffic control detail for the Lake Havasu Triathlon, in the area of London Bridge Rd. and El Camino Way. A 2011 Chevrolet Equinox disregarded traffic control devices and sped past officers who were blocking the intersection, nearly colliding with three bicyclists. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle in the 200 Blk of London Bridge Rd. The driver of the vehicle then intentionally accelerated in reverse and struck the officer’s vehicle before fleeing the traffic stop.

The Lake Havasu City Administrative Services Department, is pleased to announce that it has received the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its Fiscal Year 2023-2024 budget.

In an effort to continue to improve traffic safety, the intersection of Jamaica Blvd and Chemehuevi Blvd. is scheduled to convert to an All-Way-Stop tomorrow, Friday, March 22, 2024, weather permitting. Lake Havasu City Public Works crews will install the new signs, a crosswalk, and additional signs will be placed in advance of the changes to alert drivers of the new all-way stop process.
