On October 12, 2024, at approximately 12:50 p.m., officers of the Lake Havasu City Police Department were dispatched to the 1500 block of Beachcomber Boulevard in reference to a shooting that just occurred. Upon the officers' arrival, it was determined that an unauthorized Can-Am off-road vehicle was being driven on the track at the location. As security personnel attempted to flag down the vehicle to remove it from the track, the driver accelerated past the guard, narrowly missing him. The security guard pursued the vehicle on foot and, in an effort to stop it before the police arrived, discharged a handgun at the vehicle's tires as it fled the scene.

Lake Havasu City hereby announces its proposed Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) participation goal of 9.15% for FAA funded contracts/agreements. Lake Havasu City estimates that in meeting the established overall goal of 9.15%, it will obtain 9.15% from RN participation and 0% through RC measures. The proposed goal pertains to federal fiscal years 2025 through 2027. An in person meeting at the Lake Havasu City Municipal Airport Terminal, 5600 N. Highway 95, Lake Havasu City, AZ, 86404, including a web conference option, will be held on October 23, 2024, from 1:00 to 2:00 pm MST, for the purpose of consulting with stakeholders to obtain information relevant to the goal-setting process. Temporary road closures on Mesquite Avenue are required for Public Works Infrastructure Improvements. To reduce the impact on local businesses and motorists, contractors will work at night to improve the water system. Mesquite Avenue at Riviera Boulevard and Mesquite Avenue from Civic Center Boulevard to Moyo Drive are temporarily closed this Thursday, October 10, at 7:00 p.m., and are scheduled to reopen the following morning on Friday, October 11, at 3:00 a.m.

At approximately 5:30 p.m., Saturday, October 5, 2024, a neighbor reported a house fire in the 3900 block of Challenger Drive. The first arriving fire company reported smoke and flames coming from the rear of the home. Five engine companies, one medic unit, and a Battalion Chief responded to the incident and gained control of the fire within 25 minutes. Desert Hills Fire Department moved up to assist with other 911 calls during the incident. The occupants were not home at the time of the incident. There were no reported injuries to the firefighters. Crews remained on the scene for an additional two hours conducting salvage operations. The cause of the fire is under investigation. LHCFD CERT crews also responded with ten members to provide support and rehab duties for firefighters.

On October 6, 2024, at approximately 10:55 p.m., officers from the Lake Havasu City Police Department responded to a report of a shooting in the 2100 block of Barranca Drive. Upon arrival, officers found a male individual with a gunshot wound to the chest at the rear of the residence. Officers immediately administered lifesaving measures. Lake Havasu City Fire Department personnel arrived shortly after and transported the individual to the hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.

Lake Havasu City Parks and Recreation invites the public to attend a ribbon cutting hosted by the city through the Lake Havasu Area Chamber of Commerce Ambassador Committee next Monday, October 7, at 9:00 a.m. at Jack Hardie Park, located at 2470 Baron Drive.

At approximately 2:00 p.m., Monday, September 23, 2024, the Lake Havasu City Fire Department was dispatched to a desert rescue at Sara Park. A female hiker was reported to be experiencing a heat-related injury and needed assistance. Two engine companies, two rescue side-by-sides, an ambulance, and the Battalion Chief responded to Sara Park and were able to locate the seven hikers within 12 minutes. Rescue side-by-sides assisted five of the hikers to the trailhead with no injuries. The remaining two hikers hiked back to the trailhead on their own.
