On December 28, 2023, at approximately 1:20 p.m., officers from the Lake Havasu City Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit, with the assistance of detectives from the Special Investigations Unit, arrested Lake Havasu City residents Paul Olson (34), Cortney Menzies (37), and Christopher Blanker (33) during a traffic stop in the area of Oro Grande Blvd. and Maricopa Ave. During the traffic stop, officers located approximately 2100 fentanyl pills, approximately 13 grams of fentanyl powder, approximately 60 grams of meth, items of drug paraphernalia, and a Sig Sauer 9mm pistol.

At approximately 2:20 a.m. on Monday, January 1, 2024, a fire was reported by a Mohave County Sheriff MCSO in the 100 block of Paseo Del Sol Ave. MCSO and LHCPD reported the commercial occupancy to be fully involved upon arrival. The first arriving fire company reported heavy smoke and fire coming from the front of the business. Five Engine Companies, one Truck Company, and a Battalion Chief responded to the fire and gained control of the fire in 37 minutes.

There is no Coffee with the Mayor and City Manager this Friday. The next meeting is scheduled for Friday, February 2, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Meeting is held in the Council Chambers at the Police Department located at 2360 McCulloch Blvd North.

Detectives with the Lake Havasu City Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit are investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred on December 29, 2023, in Kingman, Az.

At approximately 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 28, fire department units responded to the desert area north of Paso De Oro Drive for a desert rescue/ATV accident. The first arriving rescue unit reported a single fatality and no other injuries. Two engine companies, two specialized desert rescue units and a Battalion Chief responded to the incident. Lake Havasu Police Department, Mohave County Sherriff’s office and AMR also responded. Crews remained on the scene additional two hours assisting law enforcement. The cause of the accident is under investigation by law enforcement agencies.

City offices are closed on Monday, December 25, 2023, and Monday, January 1, 2024, for the upcoming holiday. Police and Fire Department services are unaffected, however Administrative Offices and the Aquatic Center are closed. All City offices resume normal schedules on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, and Tuesday, January 2, 2024. Please Note: There will be no trash or recycling services on Monday, December 25 or Monday, January 1, 2024; Monday and Tuesday customers should put their cans out one day late.

The Lake Havasu City Parks and the Recreation Department, would like to announce the lower portion of the Tinnell Memorial Skate Park is temporarily closed to the public during the upcoming Sledding with Santa event on Friday, December 15, 2023, from 12:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
