On May 19, 2022, at 5:00 P.M., Detectives with the Lake Havasu City Police Department Criminal Investigations Unit, with the assistance of the SWAT team, and officers with the Arizona Department of Public Safety’s K9 and Helicopter units executed a search warrant in the area of Lone Tree BLM Campground, which is located approximately 7 miles north of Lake Havasu City, Arizona.

In an ongoing effort to maintain the highest-quality airport infrastructure, the Lake Havasu City Municipal Airport is closing the runway nightly from 8:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m., May 23rd thru May 26th to complete an erosion control project.

With the increase of arrests for counterfeit prescription medication and fentanyl pills in the community, the Lake Havasu City Police Department would like to provide some educational resources to help combat the sales and use of these potentially lethal drugs.

On Thursday, May 12, 2022 at approximately 9:36 p.m. Lake Havasu City Police Department officers responded to the 3400 block of Big Chief Dr. for a report of a shooting that had just occurred. Multiple officers responded to the scene and discovered that 28 year old Thane Stanley and 56 year old Richard Sikkenga (both Lake Havasu City residents) were involved in a domestic altercation at the location. During the altercation Sikkenga produced a handgun and shot Stanley. Sikkenga then called 9-1-1 and reported the incident. Responding officers attempted life saving measures but Stanley succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

On Wednesday, May 11, 2022 Mayor Cal Sheehy visited New Day School South infant and toddler development professionals to commend the completion and success of the LA Paz/Mohave Language Development Project, funded by a First Things First early education grant.
